About

So, a little about me. I was born and raised on the south coast of England, and this is where I have lived all my life except for a short stint (well, four years) in Kingston upon Thames. I went to university there, studying Creative Writing with Law, and was one of only two students studying that combination at the time. “Oh so that’s how people learn to write our ridiculous laws?” <– one of the most common responses I received. People are so original!

I’m an avid reader…well I was, I struggle to fit it in around the children now, and being a gamer doesn’t particularly help that either. But reading is still my happy place when my brain reaches meltdown mode. I have struggled with my mental health for as long as I can remember, and was first diagnosed with depression and anxiety when I was a young teenager. Currently, I’m in the process of getting an ADHD diagnosis. In my mind, this is 100% something I have…everything I’ve learned about it explains so much, and I finally feel (mostly) at peace with who I am and how I function. It’s truly liberating.

I have three young children, and became a single parent at the start of 2022. No more “I’m sorry to hear that” please, it was the hardest but best decision I’ve ever made. No regrets, no looking back. Parenting three essentially on your own is damn hard work though, especially when one is a toddler who demands a lot of attention.

The aim of this blog is for me to get back into writing, and to try and organise my thoughts better. Believe me, I have many of them…usually all at once, each shouting to be heard over the other. I will be sharing both struggles and victories, and anything that fits inbetween.

I’m Rachel

Welcome to my little corner of the internet, where I will be sharing all things parenting, mental health, and anything else that sparks my interest.
